Nicholas Cimino
Counsellor
Nick’s interest in the addictions and mental health field started off with the interest of wanting to work in a field where he could utilize his interests in human behaviour to help others. He has a keen interest for learning new approaches to counselling and trying to always incorporate psychoeducation in his sessions.
Nick is a graduate from Laurentian University with an Honours Degree in Behavioural Neuroscience. He has also completed post-graduate training at Cambrian College in Addictions and Mental Health Toronto Graduate Certificate program. Outside of school, Nick has continued to develop his skills in addictions and mental health by studying different approaches (ex. Cognitive-Behavioural, Existential, Psychoanalytic, etc.) to counselling.
Nick uses a client centred approach and strives to provide the client with as much autonomy and reassurance as possible. Using active listening and striving to understand the client from the context of their own unique life, he aims to help those he works learn valuable lessons from their experiences. Nick understands that each person’s needs are unique and works hard to ensure he offers care which is tailored to the client. In session Nick aims to help the individual not only understand themselves, but to leave with a deeper knowledge of human behaviour so that they can continue with their own journey of self discovery.
