Nasir Shams, RSSW
Psychotherapist
Nasir is a Registered Social Service Worker (RSSW) and Psychotherapist at CFHH who supports individuals navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, substance use challenges, and major life transitions. He is passionate about helping clients develop practical skills that support real, lasting change.
Nasir takes a person centered and trauma informed approach to therapy, integrating evidence based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and nervous system focused strategies. His work focuses on helping clients better understand their emotional responses, recognize patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and build healthier ways of coping.
Known for his calm, collaborative presence, Nasir believes therapy works best when people feel safe enough to be human while also being supported in moving forward. He works alongside clients to build tools that feel realistic, meaningful, and sustainable, empowering them to move through challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and self trust. He often reminds clients that โthe state you are in is not who you are,โ reinforcing his belief that challenges and difficult seasons do not define a personโs identity or potential for growth.
Fun fact: Outside of his clinical work, Nasir enjoys making music and finds creativity through mixing and mastering.
